Root number 5
Born on 5 May
Mercury · the speed to grasp a thing at once
5 May: the reading for this birthday alone
Born on the 5th means a mind that will not settle in one place for long. New cities, new people, new work: change does not tire them, it keeps them alive. Quick with words and sharp in business, they only need to watch the impatience that lets good chances slip.
The Sun at birth: Aries · Bharani. At your birth the Sun stood in Aries, where it is at its strongest (exalted). Confidence and the urge to move forward are plain in your nature. Leadership finds you; the only thing to manage is impatience.
The Sun sits in the last third of the sign, a portion (drekkana) ruled by Jupiter, so knowledge, a sense of principle and the gift of teaching are added. The Sun in Bharani gives the strength to carry heavy duties; the hard phases of life make you firmer. Mercury, the planet of your root number, and Mars, lord of the Sun's sign at birth, are neutral to each other. Which side grows stronger depends largely on your own choices.
Born on 5 May, with the Sun in Aries: four areas of life
Career
In sales, travel and communication work your speed outpaces everyone. Work where you can decide for yourself suits you: the army or police, engineering, sport or your own business.
Money
Money comes fast and goes fast; set aside a fixed sum every month. Income comes from initiative and goes just as fast; keep an emergency fund.
Love and relationships
Monotony is the enemy of your relationships; take your partner out somewhere now and then. In love you are direct and sincere, though words said in anger hurt later.
Health
Nerves and skin are sensitive; walk regularly to ease restlessness. Watch the head, eyes and blood pressure; take care against injuries.
The Sun’s sign and nakshatra are worked out from the day and month; for a birth close to the day the Sun changes sign, it can shift by a day from year to year. Check the full birth chart to be sure.
Your three-layer personality
Root number 5 belongs to Mercury, the messenger, so speaking, writing, reckoning and bargaining all come naturally to you. You can adapt yourself to any situation, and that flexibility has rescued you from trouble more than once. But Mercury will not let you sit still. The work that demands patient persistence is exactly where you stumble most. The large gains of your life will arrive when you finally choose one thing and stay with it.
Your birthday is a single digit, so your nature, behaviour and core all share one number. Your personality is simple and clear.
