You have a right to know where what you read comes from, so the whole method is set out here.

1. It starts from the real sky

   Every reading begins with the actual positions of the planets that day. The Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are calculated with modern astronomical formulae (Astronomy Engine), then moved to the sidereal (Vedic) zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa. Times are Bangladesh time; the panchang is reckoned at Dhaka sunrise.

2. Horoscope: transits from the moon sign

   For each sign we look at which house each planet is transiting from that sign, how strong the planet is, and where the Moon is that day. Classical transit rules weigh the favourable and testing sides into star ratings for six areas of life, good hours and Rahu kaal. If you know your lagna, the reading for the lagna’s sign follows the same rules.

3. Name letter: from sound to nakshatra

   In the old tradition each of the 108 padas of the 27 nakshatras has a sound. The first sound of a name gives its pada, nakshatra and sign, and the day’s transits are read for that sign. It is the customary alternative when the birth time is unknown.

4. Numerology: the Ankachakra method

   Each digit of the birth date is a separate layer: the first digit is the inner mind, the second the outer manner, the sum the core self. Compound numbers from 10 to 31 carry their own meaning, and whether the birth month befriends the root number is weighed too. So the 8th, 17th and 26th, or 8 March and 8 June, never get the same reading.

5. Birth chart and panchang

   The birth chart computes the lagna and the nine grahas to the second of arc, their nakshatra and pada, whole-sign houses and Vimshottari dasha. The panchang gives tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana with their ending times, sunrise and sunset, Rahu kaal and Abhijit muhurta.

6. Who writes and who checks
