17 October: the reading for this birthday alone
Born on the 17th means rising by passing the test of patience. There is resistance and opposition at first, but they do not let go. They last in administration, finance or large institutions, and leave behind something people remember after they are gone.
The Sun at birth: Libra · Chitra. At your birth the Sun stood in Libra, where it is somewhat weak (debilitated). So relationships and balance often matter more to you than your own wishes. Your sense of fairness is strong and your taste refined. Only the habit of leaving decisions hanging to keep everyone happy needs to go.
The Sun sits in the first third of the sign, a portion (drekkana) ruled by Venus, so taste, artistic sense and sweetness in relationships are added. The Sun in Chitra gives an eye for design, decoration and making beautiful things; your work gets noticed. Saturn, the planet of your root number, and Venus, lord of the Sun's sign at birth, are friends. So the qualities of your birthday and of your sign pull in the same direction; you are quick to find your path.

Career
Your name is made in administration, financial institutions or long, patient projects. Success comes in law, consultancy, design, fashion, public relations or partnership businesses.
Money
Income grows step by step; fortune favours your long-term investments. There is a tendency to spend on beauty and comfort; keep written agreements in partnerships.
Love and relationships
You are responsible in love; do not neglect your partner under work pressure. Relationships are the centre of your life; do not suppress your feelings just to avoid a quarrel.
Health
Look after bones, teeth and knees; avoid sitting at work for hours on end. Mind the kidneys, lower back and skin; drink plenty of water.
The Sun’s sign and nakshatra are worked out from the day and month; for a birth close to the day the Sun changes sign, it can shift by a day from year to year. Check the full birth chart to be sure.
Your three-layer personality
the Sun: Inside, you are built for independence. From childhood, an order given in the wrong tone makes something in you refuse, and you find no peace unless the decision is your own.
Ketu: Outside, you seem serious and hard to read. People do not understand you easily, and you make no great effort to be understood.
Root number 8 belongs to Saturn, who settles accounts. Saturn gives nothing without labour, but he does not short-change labour by a single paisa either. Your life is the story of a slow but solid climb. There is struggle in childhood and in early adulthood, and the position begins to harden after thirty-five. Those born under this number show the same pattern again and again: the ones who gave up halfway in discouragement were left with nothing, and the ones who stayed with it arrived somewhere others could not reach.
neutral Inside versus outside: The relation between inside and outside is neutral. You can show either face as the situation requires, and that flexibility is your advantage.
